Seniors lunch hosted at FSAV Cultural Centre

Standard

It was an honour to host our Community Seniors at the Sangam Cultural Centre on 10 December 2023 for Lunch. This is an annual event in FSAV Calendar where we pay respect to elders in our community. FSAV takes great pride in hosting this special event.

This special day was filled with laughter, music, prayers and delicious food, as we celebrated another incredible year for FSAV. It was a heart warming occasion to hear from the senior’s their immense contributions to our organization and society. Their dedication has been instrumental in shaping FSAV into what it is today.

We heard inspiring stories about our senior’s migration to Australia, their humble work life, their amalgamation into Australian way of life, current life stories and challenges. The Senior’s group was very appreciative of the beautiful lunch and ability to interact with people in the community.

Their passion and commitment are truly an inspiration to us all. We are so grateful for their unwavering support and look forward to continuing to learn from their wisdom in the years to come.

Pongal pooja

Standard

Namaskaram Devotees,

Pongal (பொங்கல்): This Tamil word translates to “boils” or “overflows,” referencing the way the Pongal dish boils over during preparation. It also metaphorically represents abundance and prosperity.

Pongal pooja, is the four-day harvest festival celebrated primarily in Tamil Nadu, India, and other South Indian states. It signifies gratitude for nature’s bounty, celebrates the agricultural community and animals, and marks new beginnings.

FSAV will be celebrating the Pongal Pooja on Sunday 14/01/2024 between 9:30am – 12:30pm at FSAV Cultural Centre (4/6 Rimfire Drive, Hallam)

The outline of the program is :

• Maha Ganapthi & Mari Amabika Pooja & Hawan & Abishekam 9.30am -10.15am

• Suriya Pooja & Suriya Daar Offering

• Archana & offering to all residing deities at FSAV Centre

• Arthi & Prasadam 11.30am

President’s Message – 2023 Fiji TISI Convention Nadi – FSAV Champions

Standard

Namaskram All Members and supporters.

You may be aware by now that we had a very successful participation in the 2023 annual TISI convention in Fiji.
Our main soccer team won the premier division trophy by beating Queensland Sangam in the grand final. A tremendous achievement by our young brigade, first time ever FSAV won in Premier division, we’ve been trying since 1995. This team was well managed by Avinesh Reddy and coached by Hamish Swami.

Our netball team managed by Naina Bajaj were proudly runner up in the finals and the other netball team managed by Manjula Nadan also reached the quarterfinals. Huge feat by our netball team considering such a tough competition.

Our netball teams also participated in volleyball and were runner up. There was a representation in golf and Fiji legends soccer games.

Our hearty congratulations to all the players and the management teams.
A big thank you to all the players, managers, supporters, travelling relatives and all well- wishers . I would also like to thank all sponsors and also Melvina Reddy and Michael Arun for co-ordinating and facilitating the tour. I appreciate the task was not easy.

I am sure this will generate more interest amongst our youth and hopefully result in more active participation.

Yours in Sangam

Namaskaram FSAV Members, Devotees and Participants from Community,

FSAV successfully hosted Annual 2023 Mariamman Pooja last weekend in Victoria. We accommodated about 1,500 families and friends who participated in various programs over the two days.

With Mata’s blessing, the Pooja was incredibly well organized. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our community for their support and positive feedback. Obviously when hosting these events, there would be some improvement opportunities identified. We have noted some of the feedback provided and will include in the wrap up an include in plans to remedy as needed.

FSAV has more religious events organized in 2023 and we look forward to your participation.

On behalf of the FSAV Executive Committee, we would like to thank everyone for their support and participation for the Mariamman Mata Pooja. Mata’s Mari Amma’s blessing shower upon all.
