Pongal (பொங்கல்): This Tamil word translates to “boils” or “overflows,” referencing the way the Pongal dish boils over during preparation. It also metaphorically represents abundance and prosperity.
Pongal pooja, is the four-day harvest festival celebrated primarily in Tamil Nadu, India, and other South Indian states. It signifies gratitude for nature’s bounty, celebrates the agricultural community and animals, and marks new beginnings.
FSAV will be celebrating the Pongal Pooja on Sunday 14/01/2024 between 9:30am – 12:30pm at FSAV Cultural Centre (4/6 Rimfire Drive, Hallam)
The outline of the program is :
• Maha Ganapthi & Mari Amabika Pooja & Hawan & Abishekam 9.30am -10.15am
• Suriya Pooja & Suriya Daar Offering
• Pongal offering to Suriya and Devi
• Archana & offering to all residing deities at FSAV Centre
• Arthi & Prasadam 11.30am
